Field Trip to the Post Office

Yesterday our homeschool group took a field trip to the Post Office.

We (the kids and mums) had fun and learned a lot.  We had the kids write a letter to someone, and we learned about the entire mailing process.  Our town is small, and therefore has a small post office.  But honestly it was much bigger inside than it looks!

The kids all deposited their letters in the drop box outside, and we went inside to collect the letters.

They got to put a date stamp on each postage stamp.

Some of the kids mailed their letter to a post office box, so we got to deliver their mail immediately.

We learned about how those that live on the stations receive their mail.

And we learned about how the mail is sorted and delivered to those who live in town.
The kids and I met our postie (for those in the US, that's the mailman).

We had over 20 children come for the field trip!

Then afterwards we went to Maccas (McDonalds) for ice cream!

It's great to get together with other homeschoolers, it's blessing to have lots of friends for my kids.  We are already planning activities for next year.  Lots to look forward to!

A huge thank you to all the employees who got involved and helped make this field trip a success!
